Lendhauer

Lendhauer is an association interested in the mediation of contemporary art and culture. Based in Klagenfurt, Austria, it is one of the most distinguished institutions for public art in the province of Carinthia.

Founded in 2008 to foster performances and exhibitions of international artists, Lendhauer focuses on public art projects, which are usually located in and around the Lendhafen, the former city harbor of Klagenfurt. Every year at least two artists or art collectives are invited to develop and realise site-specific interventions or installations in the frame of a residency, which reflect current social and political conditions and/or deal with aesthetic questions.

Besides these art projects, Lendhauer also devotes themselves to the development of urban spaces and the vitalisation of their quarter, the so-called “Lendhafen-Viertel”. To this end they also organize cultural events (concerts, readings, etc.) and collaborate closely with local institutions (e.g. the Alpen-Adria-University of Klagenfurt, kunstraum lakeside, etc.).
